Oh, here’s a piece I did some photos for of the workspace I designed and built for Erin Shaw. Floating work surface, with a gap at the wall to route wires and such. The minishelf gives just a bit more storage for little things out of the way of the work surface, but not entirely blocking it.
The main work surface is an Ikea tabletop mounted to the walls with heavy duty shelving brackets I picked up from Home Depot. The little shelf is a couple of picture ledges, again from Ikea.
The corkboard was the toughest thing to make, as it was custom. The cork surface is sheet cork rubber glued to a pink foam backpiece then mounted to a wall. Cork is pretty pricey, but you only need a skin of it, and the pink foam is dense enough to hold the pins in and is really easy to work with.
